Junkman Milloy spins himself into corporate caveman

In a recent diatribe on Fox News, the tall hog at the spin-doctoring trough took aim at Ford Motor Co.'s Bill Ford, BP's Lord John Browne and General Electric's Jeff Immelt for recognizing the risks of climate change and advocating corporate policies to combat it. Utilizing logic only the “junkman” could spin, well-heeled corporate lackey Steven Milloy tells us environmentally aware chief executives and business don't mix, then gives examples that illustrate why business needs more green CEOs.

Interview with John Stauber

We recently had the opportunity to do an audio interview with John Stauber, founder of the non-profit Center for Media & Democracy (the group behind both SourceWatch and PRWatch).

You may know him as the author of Toxic Sludge is Good for You: Lies, Damn Lies, and the Public Relations Industry. Stauber is a man with a huge depth and breadth of knowledge about the PR industry and its trickery – and not just as it relates to climate change. As this interview reveals, these same tricks have been used (and are being used) over and over again by the tobacco lobby, the arms lobby, and other equally questionable causes.

The interview runs about 20 minutes. Give it a listen and learn more than you ever wanted to about the people paid to confuse the public about these vitally important issues. It'll make you glad that the Center for Media and Democracy is out there doing their fine work!

Bush Administration Coverup Video

There's a great video over at YouTube… which you can watch right here. Check this out if you're interested in whether or not the US government is involved in covering up the evidence about man-made global warming.

Treehugger Ix-nays Carbon Sequestration

Treehugger has a good post today about carbon sequstration and why it's not all that it's cracked up to be. Drawing heavily on Tim Flannery's book, The Weather Makers, they argue that
All this talk of carbon sequestration can basically be seen as a delaying tactic, as a way to get government support and to keep the operation and construction of coal power plants more socially acceptable. It's the equivalent of saying: “Don't bother us, we're working on it!”
Furthermore, they suggest,
As a society civilization species, we must back the right horse and stop being misled by the coal industry's delaying tactics. There's a big opportunity cost in time and resources to going down the wrong path. Each new power plant big coal builds means decades of fat profit for it, but for the rest of us here on Earth, it's just bad, bad news.
Check it out and decide for yourself.
